DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY @ ST. JOHN’S NEWBURGH

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday (April 16) with an hour of Confession, starting at 2 PM.

There will then be a blessing of the Divine Mercy image at 3 PM, followed by singing the Divine Mercy Chaplet. All are welcome!

Chrism Mass

The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 4, 5:30 PM CDT, at Saint Benedict Cathedral. At this  Mass, the holy oils used throughout the year are blessed and consecrated, and the priests of the diocese make a public renewal of their priestly promises to serve Christ and the Church.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available prior to the Mass. All are invited to attend, show your support for the service of our priests, and pray together as a diocese in those holy days leading up to Easter.

Wisdom Day Planning

Calling all 55+ women and men who might be interested in being a part of the Planning Committee for the next Evansville Wisdom Day.

If you live in Warrick, Vanderburgh, Posey, Gibson counties and would like to be a part of a group who plans this day 1x per year, reach out to me at egirten@evdio.org.

Wisdom Day is a day per year that involves speakers, lunch, and entertainment for our over 55 Catholics.  This event draws between 200-300 from around the region.  This is a free event to attendees.  Excess donations are donated to a worthy, local cause.  No experience needed!

Events in the Community

Please consider joining the Diocesan Choir for the Chrism Mass on Tuesday, April 4 at 5:30 pm (Evansville Time) at St. Benedict Cathedral.

The Choir is open to singers from all the parishes of Diocese of Evansville.  This is a great opportunity to come together and share in musical prayer.  Members are typically in 8th grade and older. While reading music and attending all three practices is recommended, it isn’t a requirement!  Please help make this a large group with representation from all the parishes in the Diocese!

Practices are held in the Cathedral Church (please enter on the East side of the Cathedral (Parish Center / Handicap-Ramp Side))
