On Saturday, December 23 and Sunday, December 24, 2017 the Masses we celebrate will be for the 4th Sunday of Advent.
The 4:00 pm Mass on December 24th is for the Vigil Mass of the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord. The Midnight Mass and the Christmas Day Mass are for the Solemnity of the Nativity of the Lord.
December 24th is not a “2-for-1” day in which a person can fulfill their 4th Sunday of Advent Obligation and the Holy Day obligation for Christmas at the 4:00 pm Mass. Hence, a person will need to attend either the 4:00 pm Mass on December 23rd or the 10:30 am Mass on December 24 to fulfill the Sunday obligation and then attend the Mass of Christmas at 4:00 pm on December 24 or Midnight or 9:00 am on December 25th to fulfill their Holy Day obligation.
Since the Solemnity of Mary, The Holy Mother of God, January 1, 2018 falls on a Monday, it is not a holy day of obligation. All Saints Parish will have Mass at 9:00 am at St. Anthony Church on January 1.
