If you have worked in parish ministry for more than five years, you have heard the buzzwords “Evangelization,” the “New Evangelization” or “Missionary Disciple.” So, what is new about evangelization? Why is this different?
Is this just another program for me to run?

What if I told you that there is nothing “new” about evangelization and this is different from things we have done in the past? And, no, it is not a program. What I want to show you takes a paradigm shift in our thinking.
It is hard, messy work. However, if given the time to grow and implement, it will change the culture of a parish. The Prize that we speak of is the making of disciples who make more disciples!

JOE BLAND

Joe Bland is a pastoral associate at St. Mary of the Woods in Whitesville, KY. He has over 18 years in ministry with parish ministry, teaching high school and undergraduate theology and is the former Director of Evangelization and Family Life for the Diocese of Owensboro. Joe is a 2006 graduate of Saint Meinrad with his MA in theology.
