St. Teresa of Calcutta once said, “Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” Keeping the commandments of Jesus ultimately means loving as he loves. How do you think people feel after they leave your presence? This is a question worth pondering if we are serious about being disciples. Gentleness and reverence are beautiful charisms to foster as they speak boldly of love. If we truly love God and our brothers and sisters, we will always be gentle with them and treat them with the reverent dignity they deserve, regardless of what they have done. This is the ultimate challenge of discipleship. Committing ourselves today to following Jesus’ commandments and to love as Jesus loves, how can we make those who meet us this week leave us happier and grateful that they have crossed our path?
