At the Lord’s Ascension the disciples were given very clear instructions, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.” These are instructions for us as well. We have been given a purpose and a mission as believers and followers of Jesus Christ. Our celebration reminds us to take time for prayer. Prayer can deepen our awareness not only of who we are but of the Holy Spirit bringing Christ’s mission to fulfillment. With this knowledge, we can believe more deeply and then act on that belief.
