Meet our Staff
August 18, 2024
Your All Saints Parish Team is taking some time to introduce ourselves. Or maybe just share a little bit about us?
I’m Sharon Vogler.
You’ve known me as your Pastoral Associate who worked mainly with the religious education of parish children and adults. Now I have been your Pastoral Life Coordinator since Fr. Jay’s retirement a couple of years ago. I’m enjoying my time as Pastoral Life Coordinator. Each day offers something new. We have a great team here at All Saints. Each of us brings a different strength or gift to the group and the parish.
I often talk about different times in my life. These are measured by the different careers/jobs I’ve had over the years. I believe that I am a teacher at heart, but not necessarily in the traditional sense. I tried that, teaching middle school social studies and language arts for two
years. If you have ever taught school, taught religion in a Catholic school, volunteered as a catechist or youth minister, owned your own transportation business, worked in group homes for adults with disabilities, worked as a case manager teaching study skills in a junior high/high school or worked for the church…we have stories to share and swap!
I have had the opportunity to belong to several parishes…St. Mary Ireland, Our Lady of the Springs French Lick, Holy Name Bloomfield, St. Joseph Jasper, and St. Joseph Vanderburgh County Evansville.
I am the oldest of two children. My brother and his family live in Alabama. We grew up in Ireland, IN. My dad lives in Jasper and Fridays are my day with dad. As you may remember, my mom died in January. She was quite the artist as she pieced and marked quilt tops. I have
none of those skills. Dad spent his years working in the concrete and construction industry. He retired three times, and he still thinks he would like to be working. I love to read and travel.
Most travel is very local as I get older. Favorite places I’ve visited so far…New Orleans, San Francisco, eastern Kentucky and Alaska. Trips to Appalachia and Vladivostok, Russia forever changed how I see wealth and poverty.
As always, this is long….it was supposed to be a paragraph.
Joy,
(How I end my correspondence to remind myself to find joy every day!)
