Creating & Maintaining Safe Environments Our Policies and Procedures

For Family & Youth

What is family?  Parents with children under the age of 18?

We have opportunities for this kind of family and youth.

Intergenerational Ministry – family that has no age limits.  We all learn from each other.

Living Christ’s message of Love…

Our children and families are invited to participate in various opportunities for Charity and Justice throughout the year. We participate in programs that help us meet the needs of our neighbors. In the past, these have included such opportunities as Operation Shoebox, the parish Angel tree, coats for veterans, collecting food for the Food Bank, Operation Rice Bowl, Congregations Acting for Justice and Empowerment, etc. Watch the bulletin and our website for information on upcoming opportunities…join us in our mission!

Family Faith Formation

Family Faith Formation

Family Faith Formation welcomes youth from Kindergarten through grade 8 and their families. We gather every other Sunday at the St. Anthony cafeteria for fellowship, prayer, scripture reflection and learning more about our Catholic religion.

Family Faith Formation is an opportunity for all of us, children, youth and adults, to come together to share our faith and learn more about what we believe and practice as Catholics. The family setting gives us the opportunity to not only know how each of us lives our Christian Catholic life, but to learn how others put God’s love into action in their family, our parish, our community and the world. Our time together is spent listening, learning, sharing, and participating in activities. It is always a joy to hear the words of wisdom and love that come from the hearts and through the voices of our children! Extended family – grandparents, aunts, uncles, neighbors – is welcome! Please call the parish office today to join us or to ask questions about our Family Faith Formation program. A team of catechists present the day’s lesson through various methods/teaching approaches.

Our First Communion children/families have an additional program as they prepare to receive the sacrament of Eucharist.

We gather for a pitch in breakfast beginning at 8:30am in the cafeteria. Anything from casseroles to donuts to fruit is brought by our families. Our session will last from 9am to 10:15am. Questions? Email Sharon or 812-423-5209.

CHildren’s CHOIR

The Children’s Choir practices twice a month from 9-10am on Sunday morning and sings at the 10:30am Mass once a month. We invite all young people between the ages of 5 to 17 to join.

Christmas Pageant

Children participate in our liturgy to help the congregation understand the beauty and promise of Christ’s coming. Children of all ages are invited to participate in the telling of the story of the birth of Christ in our Christmas Pageant. Our Pageant coordinators work with the children assigning parts, fitting costumes and practicing prior to the Pageant. Watch the bulletin for more information and an invitation to join in the Pageant beginning in late November/early December.

Children’s Liturgy

Children’s Liturgy is offered during our 10:30 a.m. Mass at Saint Anthony Church. The children (ages three, four, five and six) are called forward in church, blessed and sent with a team of catechists to participate in Children’s Liturgy.

The lesson for Children’s Liturgy is planned so the children can hear and learn the Scripture readings on their level of understanding. The children return to Mass prior to communion.
