Emma March 2025

Hello everyone!

Ash Wednesday Ash Wednesday was March 5th this year and it is always a busy day for anyone who works in college ministry. While it’s not a holy day of obligation (a day you are obligated to go to Mass even if it does not fall on a Sunday), there are still so many people who come each year. We had 2 services at St. John Fisher as well as one on campus!
We had almost 100 students who came to the on-campus service and we were busy beforehand greeting and trying to meet new students. Most of the students who came to the service are not involved in our ministry so it was a great way to meet them and invite them to our events we have going on. We were also able to invite some of our more involved students to greet and meet the new students with us!

Spring Outreach

Since the weather has been warming up just a bit the past few weeks, we’ve been doing our weekly on-campus outreach outdoors. Our go-to activity is spike ball and inviting students walking by to play a game with us. A couple weeks ago we were playing and somehow got one of the balls stuck in a tree (in the red circle).

While this disrupted the game we had going on, it ended up being a great outreach opportunity as people on the side walk and inside the nearest building saw us trying to get it down and wanted to help. We had students climbing the tree, shaking the branch, as well as launching a football and frisbee at the ball. We eventually got it down and Steven and Brendan ended up throwing a football for a bit with the new guys they met. Pray for Michael, Reis and Abdul!
