Saints to Know
April 11, 2024
April 11th is the feast of St. Stanislaus, bishop and martyr. Stanislaus was a Polish bishop who courageously spoke out against unjust wars and the immorality of the King of Poland despite threats of imprisonment and death. When he refused to keep silent in the face of evil, the king attempted to have him assassinated, and when that failed, he killed Stanislaus himself.
St. Stanislaus joins the ranks of John the Baptist, Thomas Becket, and Thomas More as one who was willing to stand up to unjust rulers for the sake of the Gospel, even to the point of losing his life.
Lord God, embolden our parish community by your Holy Spirit to resist evil wherever we encounter it, just as you did in St. Stanislaus. Amen.
