The Living Bread

John 6:41-51 

Jesus in this Sunday’s gospel declares Himself as the living bread that came down from heaven. His hearers respond in disbelief because they know he is merely the son of Joseph and Mary. There lies the challenge tossed out to us this week. Jesus is inviting us to go to a deeper level. We can dismiss the living presence of Jesus or, through faith, experience Jesus as the living bread who can transform our lives through Grace and be the spiritual food that sustains us. It is all in how we faithfully seek God. In seeking, we shall find. In dismissing God’s living presence, we deny ourselves fullness of life.
