Oct. 1, Luke 17:5-10, The Power of Love

Our reflection from the readings this Sunday focus on faith and power. If we have the faith the size of a mustard seed, we could uproot trees and move mountains. Power in the world basically means more and more. This is not, of course, Jesus’ take on power. Jesus’ power is the power of the cross and authentic love that the cross represents. Authentic love always entails sacrifice, a letting go of self and things. Worthy servants, true disciples, give out of love without counting the costs and not expecting reward or a return. In that love, one experiences the power of the universe that can make all good things possible and fill souls with joy.
