Jesus and Zacchaeus

Oct. 30, Luke 19:1-10

There is a double challenge in this Sunday’s Gospel. We are all like Zacchaeus, the tax collector, in need of God’s affirmation and mercy in the face of our sinfulness. Zacchaeus’ encounter with Jesus transforms his life and he becomes a redeemed person. We too need for that to happen again and again in our life. Just as much, we need to be like Jesus who looks upon this much disliked person and see more than his faults. It’s easy to dispel people out of our lives because we find them disagreeable. Jesus’ passion was to bring the outcasts back into the circle of love. We are to do the same.
