July 31 Luke 12: 13-21 ~ Rich in the Sight of God

Jesus’ message to us this weekend is pretty straightforward, our purpose in life is not wealth and possessions but to become “rich in what matters to God“. Jesus gives us the story of the man who has been blessed with a great harvest and wants to stow it all away. In Jesus’ eyes and from pure common sense, that’s pretty foolish. Yet, what do we do, we stow away our wealth for that rainy day, for that big buy, for our retirement. It’s normal for us to think about our wellbeing and security, but Jesus is challenges us that our coffers will never be big enough and being generous in the sight of God is the only true security we should focus upon.
