The Passion of Jesus from Mark

In this most holy week of the year for us, the Church urges us to understand that Christian discipleship is all about the cross and what it signifies. We get Mark’s account of Jesus’ passion this Sunday and then John’s account on Friday. The message that we are meant to embrace as disciples is that authentic love always has a cost. Divine love always entails self-sacrifice and giving beyond all limits. Sometimes that will demand from us our time, sometimes our money, but always an ever more giving of ourselves, a dying to self. This week, with the backdrop of the cross, reflect on the quality of love you offer to our world.
