Ministry Update…

A new ministry… Hand Up

As you know, our Wednesday mornings offer a Community Meal for lunch and a Clothes Closet.
These two ministries are charity ministries. Lunch and clothing items are given to people in need.

We are in the process of trying to formalize a Wednesday morning ministry. We are calling it “Hand Up.”

We are looking for this to be an opportunity to help people take small steps needed to help them move forward from whatever situation they find themselves in.

Perhaps we can help them…
make phone calls in search for housing or shelter; get an ID so they can apply for assistance; make a copy of paperwork they need to submit for services they need; call for financial help with overdue bills; find specific community resources they need.

This ministry will need volunteers who are interested in working with our neighbors (those who are homeless or living in poverty who come on Wednesday mornings), hearing their story, and building a relationship with them. This will enable the volunteer to have an idea what kind of services the neighbor already has available, and what resources we may be able to help them find.

Do you like to talk with people? People you don’t know? Do you have a sense of organization to gather resource information? Find information in a resource book? Do you want to work for justice in small steps? Pray with this ministry possibility.
