LIVE THE LITURGY – INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

It’s important to keep our eyes open. Otherwise, we can easily dismiss things that truly require our attention. Whether it is someone needing care, a wrong that must be rectified, an injustice that must be addressed, or someone in need of a helping hand, the lens through which we view life (and even the rules by which we live) can prevent us from stopping and acting. Whether it’s an obsession with being on time, a compulsion to complete tasks according to a schedule, or a rigidity with not breaking a law or fear of taking a risk, we miss daily opportunities to show mercy. We often fail in our duty to be a good neighbor, especially when it involves brothers and sisters remote from us whom we have never met. The pain of the world is our pain. God’s law of love, mercy, and compassion is not something remote. It’s already within us and very near. All we have to do is open our eyes and carry it out. ©LPi

VIVIR LA LITURGIA – INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA (Live the Liturgy)

Es importante mantener nuestros ojos abiertos. De lo contrario, podemos descartar fácilmente las cosas que realmente requieren nuestra atención. Ya sea alguien que necesita atención, un error que debe ser rectificado, una injusticia que debe abordarse o alguien que necesita ayuda, el lente a través del cual vemos la vida (e incluso las reglas por las que vivimos) pueden impedirnos parar y actuar. Ya sea por la obsesión por llegar a tiempo, la compulsión por completar las tareas de acuerdo con un cronograma, la rigidez por no infringir una ley o el miedo a correr riesgos, perdemos oportunidades diarias de mostrar misericordia. A menudo fallamos en nuestro deber de ser un buen prójimo, especialmente cuando se trata de hermanos y hermanas alejados de nosotros a quienes nunca hemos conocido. El dolor del mundo es nuestro dolor. La ley de amor, misericordia y compasión de Dios no es algo remoto. Ya está dentro de nosotros y muy cerca. Todo lo que tenemos que hacer es abrir los ojos y llevarlo a cabo. ©LPi
