Watch, Be Alert!

Mk. 13:33-37

“Watch” is the key word for this first Sunday of Advent. Jesus says we must be alert and awake or else we will miss the appointed time. The context of this passage is the end times, but really what Jesus is urging us to do is be aware of the movement of Grace in our lives.

We tend to meander aimlessly through life doing the things that demand our attention, but not tuned in spiritually. Not being tuned in, we miss God’s guidance and power on the most vital things in life which are the invitations to greater love.

So, as we make our way towards Christmas, let’s nurture our ability to tune in to the living presence of God in our lives.
