BRIDGE Racial Justice Faith Week

Thoughts by Brenda Meyer, Justice Minister All Saints Parish

I am thinking about what is important to me as I join in communion with others each weekend. Martin Luther King once commented that Sunday is the most segregated day of the week.

Yvonne Martin started as a volunteer with CAJE who has made a very big impact in our community regarding the needs of dually diagnosed children with mental health and autism. She didn’t stop there.  She has became a CAJE Organizer in August of 2021 and swiftly had to pick skills and responsibilities until she assumed the position of Lead Organizer this past summer.

Clothes Closet News

The weather is getting colder. We are in need of winter clothing, heavy coats (1x-4x), hats, scarves and blankets.
We are in need of underwear and socks for all sizes and men’s pants and shirts,

BRIDGE is encouraging our community to think and talk about racial justice as a part of Black History Month, but also in view of the current attacks on other racial groups: Chinese, Korean, Asian, and Middle Eastern peoples particularly of the Jewish and Moslem faiths.

What a blessing we have at All Saints Parish. What support we have for justice!!

All Saints Parish parishioners, friends and supporters raised $26,840 by the end of the year for the Welborn Baptist Foundation Matching grant appeal.

Members of CAJE, All Saints Parish & the community came together December 4th to begin the process to research issues, resources and possible solutions for our community.

Forty All Saints CAJE Network members attended the CAJE Community Problems assembly Monday night, November 13th at Holy Redeemer.

This gathering of 213 was the largest in a number of years for the 27 congregations who make up CAJE.

All Saints CAJE Team Network Leaders (Janie Allen, Bonnie Wink, Jerome Echele, Tom Bogenschutz, Brenda Meyer and Krisit and Vince Wagner.) held 10 listening sessions to find out what keeps people up at night.
55 people attended and 46 committed to being CAJE Network Members.

Ministry Update…

A new ministry… Hand Up

As you know, our Wednesday mornings offer a Community Meal for lunch and a Clothes Closet.
These two ministries are charity ministries. Lunch and clothing items are given to people in need.

Update from Emma…

Our Justice Ministry team met with Tom Ulrich at the Ignatian Family “Teach in for Justice” hosted in Washington, D.C.

Tom(pictured in blue shirt & glasses below), a veteran of social justice ministry, has over 40 years of professional experience in assisting faith communities and national organizations develop their social justice ministry efforts.
