Living in the Light

John 3:14-21

Jesus sends us a dire warning in the Gospel this week. Choose the light that the Son offers He urges and reject the darkness that surrounds us.

Events in our Community – “Tickets are on sale now for St. James Men’s Club annual half pot raffle. Daily drawings of $500 are held Mon. – Fri. in April with the grand prize drawing April 26! Last year’s grand prize was nearly $26,000!

We hear this Sunday the Gospel account of Jesus ridding the temple of its money racket. Rather than leading people to God and worship, the religious system had been reduced to a money generator for the religious authorities.

This month, we have had 8 students start new Bible Studies in our LakerCatholic community. This is an amazing gift as us missionaries have multiple Bible Studies that are just about overflowing!

Another exciting thing is that we had over 500 people join for the evening Ash Wednesday Mass and got about 35 new student contacts who want to join Bible Studies!

Two important CAJE events are coming up. Put these dates on your calendar now.

The CAJE Rally is coming up April 15th at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church at 867 E. Walnut Street. Sign in starts at 6:00 pm and the program starts at 6:30.

As we know from our venerable tradition, St. Felicity gave birth in prison while awaiting her execution for the crime of being a Christian. She gave up her daughter to an adoptive Christian mother and then died for the faith two days later,

St. Polycarp was martyred after refusing to renounce his faith in Christ. When asked to swear by Caesar, Polycarp famously responded, “Since you pretend not to know who and what I am, hear me declare with boldness: ‘I am a Christian.'”
